The Martin Luther King, Jr. Cultural Center promotes, preserves,
and extends African-American culture and history. The cultural Center is a non-profit
community-directed facility dedicated to providing access to resources and
programming for people of all ages. The
Center is a regional cultural facility inspired by the spirit and vision of Dr.
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Goal:

To
establish a comprehensive collection of African-American historical/cultural
materials and develop programs that provide wide
access to both the spirit and content of this history and culture.
·
To
offer programs that focus on African-American artists and performers; to
highlight and celebrate local and regional talent; and to honor Pittsburgh-born
artists of African American heritage.
·
To
offer educational activities to facilitate sharing and guidance between people
of different generations and types of experience.
·
To
provide services to community of which the cultural center is a part, and to
encourage community interaction with and support of those in need.
